Forum Guidelines

The Hummer Network has a long tradition of being a valuable resource for the online Hummer community in a civil, friendly atmosphere. Here are some basic guidelines for using this forum:

  1. No material which is profane, obscene, pornographic, vulgar, racist, offensive, derogatory, insulting or abusive may be posted here. This includes signatures, avatars, links and attachments. Thinly disguised profanity, using alternate characters while clearly intended to be profanity, is not acceptable, nor is "mild" porn or "girlie" pictures. No material which is false, deceptive, misleading, fraudulent, invasive of a person's privacy, libelous, or otherwise in violation of any law may be posted here. No flame-wars, personal attacks or name-calling. Please do not encourage or ask others to do any of these things.

  2. Spam, either on the forum itself, or by sending advertising messages to individual members via this forum (by e-mail or private message) is strictly forbidden. E-mail addresses of members are not to be collected for advertising purposes. The Hummer Network is supported by PAID advertising. Do not attempt to use it as a means of advertising a business, non-Hummer-related event, raffle*, or anything else for free. Only Hummer Network advertisers may post messages which are advertising or promotional in nature. Messages of an advertising or promotional nature, when posted by businesses which are not Hummer Network advertisers, will be subject to removal. Individuals may post Hummer-related items for sale or wanted, although the Hummer Marketplace is devoted to that purpose and is recommended. Links to listings on the Hummer Marketplace, eBay, Craig's List or other online classifieds may be posted as long as the intent is not to advertise a business. Do not post spam, scam or "phishing" e-mails you might receive, even as a warning to others. It would be distributing fraud. Scams WILL be removed if posted.
*Due to serious problems with online raffles in the past, Internet-based raffles shall not be publicized on this forum.

  3. Be considerate and respectful toward your fellow members. The Hummer community is large and diverse. Making sweeping insults of entire groups of people is bound to offend some members. If anything you have posted results in complaints from members, please heed and respect those complaints. Do not attack or insult someone who complains or is offended by your words.

  4. Avoid posting when drunk or otherwise impaired. You will inevitably post something embarrassing or regrettable. You can go back and delete or edit such a forum post when you sober up, but it will have already gone out to hundreds of mailing list users as-is.

  5. Trolling will not be tolerated. Forum trolls may be removed with or without notice.

  6. Off-topic material should be posted to the Off-Topic forum only. Forum-related questions should be posted to the Forum-Related Questions forum only. Politics is off-topic and can be discussed in the Off-Topic forum only. Do not attempt to interject political statements into the Hummer forums in posts, avatars, attachments or signatures which are political in nature. The HML is not to be politicized, period. Political content may be edited, removed or moved.

  7. No part of the Hummer Network should be used as a personal soapbox or pulpit in order to further one's own religious, political, commercial or other agenda(s).

  8. The forum administrators and moderators reserve the right to edit, modify, move or delete posts, avatars, sig files or attachments as deemed necessary and without notice. Decisions of the forum administrators and moderators are final, and are not open to debate. These guidelines may be amended if any unforeseen issues arise in the future.

  9. No material from Hummer Network forums or web sites may be copied for use on any other web site(s) or any other publication(s), or forwarded or otherwise sent to any non-member(s) or former member(s), without permission. All Hummer Network content is protected under applicable copyright laws. Plagiarism is taken very seriously. If you assist anyone in plagiarizing Hummer Network content, you may be named in any legal action that may result.

  10. The spirit of these guidelines, as well as the overall tone and traditions of this forum, should be observed. Any attempt to bypass or get around these guidelines is a violation of this one. Interpretation of these guidelines is up to the forum administrators and moderators only and not open to debate. Messages posted which violate any of these guidelines may be moved, edited or deleted. If a user knowingly violates any of them on a regular basis, such a user may be removed or suspended from the forum or have posting privileges revoked with or without notice.

Most forums have rules, and these are fairly typical. It's all about being part of a large community, and keeping that fact in mind. The Hummer Network has served the online Hummer community very well for a very long time thanks, in large part, to the community-mindedness of its members. Thank you.

Thank You
